Our Chicago: Black Freedom

"Our Chicago: Black Freedom" explored the history of the momentous event in Texas on June 19, 1865, "Juneteenth," ending the last vestiges of slavery. It further examined what Juneteenth means to our country and what Chicagoans and the state of Illinois are doing to commemorate it.

I wrote, produced, and handled pre and post-production of this special. My involvement as executive producer also included supporting talent in developing the story ideas showcased throughout the special; this included copyediting scripts, coordinating production schedules, approving visual elements, and finalizing motion graphics displayed on-screen.
